The Monrepos palace complex, one of the “side palaces” of the extensive Ludwigsburg residence complex, is a significant overall composition of lake, park, palace, staffage and outbuildings. An essential element of the complex is the “chapel island” dominating the lake, in fact an artificially created complex of a heaped-up island, a walkable rock structure and a crowning neo-Gothic sacral building.

Die Schlossanlage Monrepos, eines der „Nebenschlösser“ der ausgedehnten Residenzanlage Ludwigsburg, ist eine bedeutenden Gesamtkomposition aus See, Park, Schloss, Staffage- und Nebengebäude. Ein wesentliches Element der Anlage ist die den See beherrschende „Kapelleninsel“, tatsächlich ein künstlich angelegter Komplex aus angeschüttetem Eiland, begehbarem Felsenbauwerk und bekrönendem neugotischen Sakralbau.
